A student information system for small schools

Core is a student information system (SIS) built for small schools, homeschool co-ops and micro-schools — enrollment, class schedules, grades, attendance, student records and school fee payments in one system.

What is a student information system?

A student information system (SIS) is the software a school uses to hold its student records — who is enrolled, what classes they take, their grades and attendance, their contact and medical details, and what their family has paid. It is the system of record for the school year.

What makes an SIS right for a small school?

Small schools and co-ops usually need the same records a large district needs, without the setup and administration a district-scale system assumes. The things that matter most are fast setup, registration families can complete themselves, and per-role access so a teacher sees their own classes and a parent sees only their own children.

What does Core include?

Online registration and application review, a class catalog with enrollment, school fee payments, grades and assignment scoring, daily attendance, behavior notes, student and medical records, and year-end archiving of a completed school year.

Can families register themselves?

Yes. A parent creates an account and completes the registration steps the school defines — forms, signatures, document uploads and any fees. An admin reviews and approves, which is what opens up classes and records to that family.

How does Core handle a new school year?

When a school closes out a year, that year is archived — student and medical details, classes, grades, every attendance day and behavior notes — and the live workspace is cleared for the new year. The school keeps the full history, and families can be given access to their own students' archived years.

Who can see student data?

Access is scoped by role. Admins see their whole school, teachers see the students in the classes they teach, and families see only their own children. Each school also controls which sections are visible to each role.
